Fashion Economist is a design studio created by Nancy Kherlopian. Nancy is a strategic business designer & inventor of products & services with an entrepreneurial spirit. She’s born in Beirut, Lebanon, raised in sunny California & currently resides in New York City. In 2009, she graduated with a B.A in Communication Studies with an emphasis in public affairs, interpersonal & inter-relations & a minor in Fashion Merchandising from CSULB. Nancy's curiosity & creativity navigated her throughout her professional life. Her diversity evolved from spending time in banking to fashion design & marketing. She’s also spent a few years working in agricultural farming and distribution. A lot of her time was focused in various areas of the fashion & food industries focused on experience strategy, marketing, event production and branding. She's a huge advocate for non-profit missionary work with social impact. She works closely with organization in the non-profit sector to vision cast and develop a strategy that can bring the vision to fruition in structure & practice. She’s involved in various humanitarian efforts both in her professional and personal life. She’s very much involved in her church community and is also the Communications & Strategy Director of AECNYC a community church in Manhattan.
With her versatile background as a strategist working across industries & disciplines, she was naturally drawn to The Design Thinking methodology which led her to pursue a Masters of Science Degree in Strategic Design & Management at Parsons, The New School which allowed her to use her previous experiences & develop a new skillset that amplified her strategy & innovation expertise. She was invited by the Dean of Parsons on a Merit Scholarship to pursue her MS in SDM. She’s now a master of human-centered design processes using design thinking tools to help companies build solutions that solve for unmet customer needs & develop strategies that serve an important purpose.
Nancy enjoys houseplants, sports and has a deep (fried) love for (spicy) chicken as much as she does for human connections. She is currently available for freelance projects or a nice cup of a coffee for collaboration!
